Logistics

Date:

February 12, 2019, Eastern Time Zone USA.

All-remote:

Give your talk from anywhere, so long as it’s quiet and has good internet.

Pre-recorded backup:

For 2019, we’re requiring speakers to supply a backup of their talk on YouTube or another other hosted platform. Why? Glitches happen, and we want to ensure our audience doesn’t miss a thing.

Up to 50 minutes, including an optional 5 minutes for Q&A.

Free event, unpaid:

We’re entirely volunteer run and don’t charge for tickets. So we can’t pay speakers (sorry). But we do encourage attendees to donate to nominated charities. We raised over $10k in 2018.

Diversity:

We are committed to having as diverse a line-up of speakers as possible. We are signatories of diversitycharter.org. Your can also read our Code of Conduct.

Closing date:

November 30, 2018.

By donation:

We encouraging attendees to give to climate causes as a token of appreciation to speakers and volunteers. In 2018 we raised over $10,000 for conservation causes.

Audience:

In 2017, 1,200 attended from all over the world—every continent except Antarctica. It included a mix of UX and web folk, students, academics, and business people. Many thousands more have watched the recorded talks on YouTube.
